Bike Cave
Building around the landscape to create something truly unique.
This was a particularly interesting project where the architecture and natural landscape needed to work hand in hand. Due to the size and location of the section, the garage and lower level of the home were built directly around existing rocky outcrops, creating a striking feature within the finished space.
To achieve the tight fit required between the rock faces and the steel wall linings, we were supplied with timber templates that had been carefully scribed to match the natural contours of the rock. From there, we used 3D scanning technology to accurately capture the profiles before converting the data into laser-cutting files for the hot rolled steel panels.
The combination of traditional templating methods with modern scanning and CNC laser cutting allowed us to produce panels that fitted precisely against the uneven rock surfaces while maintaining the clean architectural detailing required throughout the project.
The finished result creates a dramatic and highly functional “bike cave” that feels seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape.
